Darfur Needs You in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 9
Why: The 2008 Olympics torch relay makes its only North American stop in San Francisco. This is a unique opportunity to line the route and ask China in person to help end the Darfur genocide. China, the host of the Olympics, is Sudan’s major trading partner and one of its leading weapons suppliers, and it provides diplomatic cover to Sudan at the U.N. Security Council.
Date and time: Wednesday, April 9 at 11AM (for both locations)
Where: Come to either one of two locations in San Francisco:
- Corner of 3rd St. and Townsend St., near AT&T Park, for the start of the relay (for those who are willing and able to do some walking — up to 2-3 miles)
- One Maritime Plaza, 300 Clay St (across from Embarcadero Two) to line the torch route (less walking)
